how to setup NAS drive on ubuntu desktop 16.04?

i am trying to set up NAS on ubuntu desktop 16.04, Any one can help? is it possible to use desktop instead of server ,i believe it's possible any help

Just install samba and you are ready to go

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install samba

Then you'll need to edit the conf file accordingly /etc/samba/smb.conf

This should be very basic config to start with:

# Global parameters
[global] workgroup = HOME netbios name = SAMBA server string = Samba Server %v map to guest = Bad User log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 50 security = User
# My share
[share] # Path to your share path = /home/user/samba browsable = yes guest ok = yes read only = no create mask = 0755
